Social and Emotional Traits 

  • Lack of empathy: showing little or no remorse for hurting others, lack of guilt, lack of sensitivity to other people’s feelings.
  • Misperceiving threats: frequently viewing neutral actions from peers or authority figures as aggressive or hostile.
  • Social friction: struggling to gauge trust or cooperate within social groups, often leading to aggressive coping mechanisms.

Aggression to People and Animals

  • Physical violence: starting physical fights, bullying, intimidating others, or using weapons.
  • Cruelty: showing physical cruelty or harm toward animals or other people
  • Severe violations: forcing some into activities they do not want or assault.

Destruction of Property

  • Vandalism: Intentionally destroying or damaging public and private property.
  • Arson: Deliberately setting fires with the intent to cause serious injury

Serious Rule Violations

  • Truancy: skipping school repeatedly, this can often start at the age of 13.
  • Running away: leaving home overnight or running aware for an extended period.
  • Early boundary testing: consistently breaking curfew, ignoring strict parental rules, or engaging in very early substance use/addiction.
